How did we celebrate coming into 2020? We watched Netflix and fell asleep before Midnight… What did you do?
Isn’t it funny how life changes? Growing up I NEVER missed an opportunity to stay out late and party till the early morning hours. Now, nothing is better than spending a night in with the Hubs. Ah… sometimes you really just need a “stay” cation. We have been going-going-going since we got to Utah but wanted to give everyone an update!
Getting To Utah
We drove from Phoenix to Salt Lake City on the first of December, all in one day. It was a great drive, and we didn’t run into any snowstorms. It was fun to be back in the car for long hours with Ben but this time was different because we could actually pass slower people and drive in the left lane. We left the RV in AZ and just took our hatchback car. The problem we ran into was the bathroom issue. Usually, you can just go while driving but this trip we had to stop about every hour. #pregnancyproblems
We arrived safely at my Dad’s house and feel good getting settled in for the winter. We are in the basement and finally feel like we can spread out. My dad hasn’t had anyone living with him for years so we do our best to respect his space/stuff. One thing I did do, was the basement bedroom. When I was in college I thought it was a good idea to paint it pink with flower wallpaper. It’s been haunting me ever since. I think the upgrades turned out nicely.
Baby Update!
Our first week in Utah, I had a follow-up ultrasound with our little nugget to check on a few anomalies. Individually they were ok, but the fact that there were a few, and I am over 35 years old raised a red flag for my midwife. I like her because she doesn’t take any chances. Everything looks great and we can move forward as planned!
Company Party
A fun surprise happened the second week here as Bens company offered to fly us out to Anaheim for a day so we could attend their Christmas party. I got the OK from my midwife to travel at 28 weeks and we headed to sunny California.
The flight seemed to be going well UNTIL we heard the pilot over the speaker say the visibility in Orange County was so bad, they had to land in LA. NO!!!!!!! That would be awful as we would either have to wait for the next flight (like everyone else) or deal with traffic. Luckily, we didn’t land, and the pilot circled back around to try one more time. We landed and within 30 minutes the sky cleared. Crazy weather.
I really wouldn’t say this unless I meant it, but Klient Boost Christmas Party was the best I have ever been too. They are a really generous company and made the night super special for us all. It was at a children’s museum. Never a dull moment. Great job guys, we can’t wait until next year!
Christmas
Now we get into the week of Christmas. We had my Brother and Sister-in-Law flew into town and we thought it would be nice to do a little breakfast before they headed to Wells NV where my Sister-in-Laws family lives. Come to find out EVERYBODY wants to come to breakfast so it wasn’t little anymore. It felt so great to have everyone under the same roof again. We all gave Dad some gifts and went on our way.
The Becks are scattered throughout the country but SLC is a good meeting place for the holidays (super lucky for me!). So we packed for the week and headed to the Cabin for a week of Beck family fun.
We played games and really enjoyed the holiday. This will be our last Christmas gathering like this as all the siblings are expanding their family and have started to want Christmas in their own home. We have no idea what next year holds for us and where we will be but we have plenty of time to figure that out.
Baby Shower
After Christmas, my Sister/Sisters-in-law threw me a baby shower. It really did make me feel super loved. I really wanted the Nye and Beck sides to get to know each other. A huge highlight for me was getting to see some friends that I haven’t in a while. Crazy enough, 3 out of the 5 of them are pregnant! What a fun stage of life to be in. We all shared experiences and they asked me questions about my first. It was all so lovely.
It is really nice to have some extra help getting all the baby stuff. I still feel like I have no idea what I am doing but am confident we will figure it out.
New Years Day
To be totally transparent, both Ben and I were a little funned out after Christmas and had no desire to do anything on New Year’s Eve. Crazy how getting older changes you. We watched “Designated Survivor” worked on a few resolutions and went to bed. It was glorious. There is no one that I would rather have a boring night in then my Benjamin.
Heres to starting off the new decade! The Roaring 20s!
